About Coastal PT

Coastal Physical Therapy Group is a lifelong dream come true for Founder and Doctor of Physical Therapy, Shanna Currier. After working for both private and hospital-based orthopedic practices for 20 years, Shanna knew it was time to begin a new journey and make her dream a reality. She envisioned a clinic where people enter as patients but leave as family & friends. Recently, Shanna began struggling with the increasing difficulty to deliver one-on-one quality care due to the industry shift towards a corporate physical therapy factory, patients are becoming numbers. Shanna has always been extremely committed to her patients, advocating on their behalf because they deserve consistently high quality, individualized treatment, something very difficult to deliver in larger corporations. After much support from family, friends and many loyal patients, Shanna founded Coastal Physical Therapy Group. Here at Coastal PT, we are committed to always provide you with services that are personalized, based off evidence-based research, and most importantly, FUN! We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our family.

Shanna’s Bio
Shanna Currier was born in Rhode Island but spent most of her childhood being raised in Maine. She was an avid athlete in high school, and upon graduation she then attended the University of Maryland where she played Division I softball for the Terps and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Kinesiological Sciences. Shanna then went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy with Distinction from Simmons University in Boston and after a short time back in Maine, moved to Pawleys Island in 2004. Shanna has been practicing between Conway to Georgetown for the past 20 years, but always felt the most at home in Pawleys Island. Over her 20 years as a practitioner, Shanna has become renowned in the community and is highly respected within her profession as an excellent diagnostician.
